What’s Happening in October in Victoria

It’s that mystical and beautiful time here on the island, especially Victoria! We have just entered our Fall season and what does that mean? It means cuddling up with a cozy blanket and diving into a novel for most… But if you are looking for something to go and do in the next little bit there is always something fun going on here in the city!

Let’s start with OKTOBERFEST! I have a friend who helps at this event and he has told me that it is a lot of fun and foods delicious! It’s held on October 19th at the Oaklands Community Centre, tickets are $25 each and that includes a traditional Bavarian meal, a mug of beer from “Hoyne” and to add to the ambiance there will be traditional and modern music to enjoy.

This next one sounds like a ton of fun. If I wasn’t planning on being out of town this day I would for sure be going with my kiddos! It’s the “Quivering Village Carnival & Crazy Maze” this takes place on October 25th and is held at the Quadra Village Community Centre, 6pm-8pm and by donation. There will be a fun and crazy maze, a witches lair, photo booth, food cart, fortune teller, carnival games and popcorn! This will be a great family fun night before the actual night of trick or treating commences and it won’t break the bank! 😀

Another event you and the little ones in your life won’t want to miss, is the 5th annual “Wicked Victoria & Boo Boulevard”. This event is geared towards people with small children but anyone is welcome! It’s a fun afternoon event that will run from noon until 5. There will be over 3000 non profit organizations offering up info on what they are all about. Kids don’t have much patience, so the catch is that each organization has to have a game for kids to play. There will also be a Harvest Market and a “too cute to spook kid zone” and at 3pm there is a super fun “Monster Mash” kids costume parade. This sounds like a great afternoon out with the family.

Last but not least, on Halloween night there will be a very large community “Bonfire” held at the Archie Browning Centre. It starts at 6pm and runs until 9pm. There will be hot chocolate and hot dogs available by donation and the proceeds go towards Esquimalt Lions Club. I am hoping to make it to this event this year as I have never been. We’ll see how my kids are doing after all the trick or treating.

I hope you enjoyed this latest blog and are able to enjoy some of these fun events coming up!

Until next time…
Candace 😀
