We decided that there are so many quality small businesses in Victoria that we would dedicate some of of blog space to showcasing them.
Roxy is a friend who was suffering the same types of rate hikes that many businesses are facing now. Higher rent, higher logistical and supply costs. The decision that she had to make was the same one that many businesses have to make. Do they eat the new costs to retain customers, or do they pass the costs along to the customers and risk losing some of them because they feel that her services are outpriced in the market.
Roxy’s solution was unique. She decided to build a tiny barbershop in the yard behind her home as if it was a tiny home. All the same equipment as the full shop, but with better controlled costs. This may result in a slight increase in the cost of a haircut but noting that will cause her customers sticker shock.
Regardless as to where the Trump tariffs go, they are now starting to impact small business and some of those businesses run on pretty tight margins as it is. I have no doubt that we will be seeing more creative solutions in the coming future to combat these rising prices that are happening everywhere.
