Well, it’s that time of the year again where we locals of Victoria can experience some of the ‘touristy’ things here in Vic, either for FREE or a fraction of the cost! Be a Tourist in your town is happening this year in Victoria Feb 22nd – 24th, and March 1st – 3rd. I’ve been enjoying this event with my kids for at least 6 years now. It just so happens to fall on my son’s birthday every year, so that can make for some fun family and birthday celebrations combined! This year looks like it’s got lots of fun for everybody of every age to enjoy. From free wine and cider tastings or a cuppa tea /coffee, to free tubs of cotton candy. If Butchart Gardens is a bit steep on a regular day, the ‘Be a Tourist’ card will get you in for free on March 2nd and 3rd! There are also a few free historical tours and Free tours through the legislative building. Another one to put on the list is free admission to Butterfly Gardens! This is a quick highlight of some of the FREE things that stood out to me.
There are also some great discounted places to visit and things to do. There are so many, it’s hard to list them all. I’m seriously considering taking advantage of the 50% off whale watching tours, though. It’s been on my ‘to do’ list for almost a decade, and I haven’t had the right opportunity to do it. That OR I may take advantage of the 40% off Adrenaline zip tours. Both of those are normally outta my price range. Follow the link to find more information on any of the events or goodies you may get involved in during this year’s Be a Tourist in your Own Town.
You can purchase a BAT card for $15 each or buy 4 get 1 free (5 for $60). They can be purchased at Save on Foods locations, The Bay Centre and Destination Greater Victoria Visitor’s Centre. I hope you have fun during this annual event and take advantage of some discounted ‘Touristy’ Hot Spots!
