New Year and New Fun Activities (Candace’s Corner)

Happy New Year! I can hardly believe we are already into 2019. January and February can be chilly but still lots of fun here in Victoria. Today I’ll give you the 411 on some fun things you can participate in and around town.

On my “to do” list is a very cool looking “Lego Exhibit,” in Sidney at the Sidney Museum. It’s showcasing over 60 masterpieces, with a main focus on ‘Star Wars’ sets. There will also be some very cool sets from ‘Hogwarts Castle’ and a ‘Bugatti Chiron Car’. My kids are nuts about Lego so I’m sure they will love to check this out. The Sidney Museum is located at 2423 Beacon Avenue and 4th street, admission is by donation. 🙂

The next on my calendar is the “Wildlife Photographer of the Year” at the Royal BC Museum. It showcases a few dozen Phenomenal wildlife photographs taken by photographers of an array of ages and levels of photography experience. This takes place from February 15 – March 29th, 2019. These photographs are displayed from the “London Natural History Museum.” These photographs are very moving and can stir up different emotions and are usually thought provoking. That being said I am always glad I checked it out with my family as it’s a good learning opportunity.

Next is a very fun one for little ones especially those on a tight budget (who isn’t now a days :P). $2.99 Movies at Cineplex are BACK! Starting January 12th and every Saturday until February 23rd at 11am there will be a different oldie but a Fun and classic movie for the family to check out. The Cineplex that is participating in Victoria is the Westshore location. My kids and I have enjoyed this event in the past and I plan on taking them at least once this time around too. For more information and to see which movies are playing on a particular day here is a link  https://www.cineplex.com/Events/FamilyFavourites

I hope this gave you some good ideas to fill up the weekends in the next couple of months. 😀
